In 2022, Coda produced its second brand awareness campaign. Based on the concept that everything evolves (even documents), we generated an integrated ad campaign that featured bizarre but beautiful, imagined evolutions from the natural world, rendered in the style of 18th/19th-century naturalist illustrations. The creative/art/design direction were handled in-house, and we partnered with the amazing production studio, BUCK, to render the creature art and animated video.

    On Coda’s social media channels, we encouraged users to send us shots of our creatures in the wild.

  • An image of mood boards and sketches.

    The mood boards we chose to mash up for the final concept, and a couple of the accompanying sketches from the pitch process.

  • An image of ad layouts.

    Developing the look and layouts in standard formats, using early character renders.

  • Vertical layouts with creatures and docs.

  • Stills from the 30-second video spot.

  • …And of course, we made some swag, including a notebook, t-shirts, towels, a swim cap, a water bottle, a tote bag, and posters.
